What Did He Tell You to Do?

Updated: Dec 4, 2024

At the appointed time we will stand before the King and give an account for everything we have done on earth. There will be no excuses, no finger pointing, no blaming others. We will answer to the Lord for what we did not do with the time He gave us. The Bible teaches us that in these perilous times, people will be unthankful, undisciplined, selfish, and disobedient. Disobedience includes rebellion against the commands and instructions of the Lord.

Your gifts, talents, and abilities were given to you to impact others. In fact, your willingness to be used by the Lord is essential to other people getting a release or a blessing for their destiny to be fulfilled. Your obedience provides direction to people who may struggle with God's plan for their life. Your submission to the Lord helps people gain clarity, wisdom, insight, knowledge, and understanding about their personal lives.

There are three primary reasons people are disobedient to the Lord.

  1. Fear. God's people have placed more trust in man than in God. The disappointments experienced create fear. People equate man with God and although God has never lied, nor failed, people look at God naturally rather than spiritually and refuse to trust the Lord based on past experiences with people.

  2. The cost of discipleship. Obeying the Lord means you must lay down your life. Your wants and desires must change to reflect what the Lord wants. Unless you are willing to pay this cost, you will remain in a state of comfort. However, you will not be fully blessed or experience the abundant life the Lord promises unless you have an unwavering commitment to following God His way.

  3. The spirit of witchcraft and rebellion. I asked someone one day if they knew surrender would make their life better, why wouldn't they do it? They said they wanted what they wanted their way. Witchcraft and rebellion are selfish spirits that destroy people. They are controlling, manipulative and prevent people from giving what the Lord requires for success.

The Lord can deliver you from these if you are willing. You must know that the Lord will not be mocked and whatever you sow (or don't) you will reap. (Galatians 6:7) Do not expect any harvest if you are unwilling to sow from your life has the Lord has instructed.

This advent season focuses on Jesus and His willingness to give up His position in the kingdom to become like one of us and give His life. Because of His obedience, He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Every knee must bow to Him, in the earth, under the earth, and in Heaven. There is no other God or Savior except our Lord. His obedience to the Father is why you and I have a chance at eternal life. As we approach 2025, remember that someone is waiting on you to obey the Lord as you have been called. Their life depends on your submission to the Lord's will. Do what He told you to do, no matter how hard, no matter the cost. Your life is not your own. You belong to the King and were created for His pleasure and glory.

"After He was found in [terms of His] outward appearance as a man [for a divinely-appointed time], He humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross." - Philippians 2:8
